Stabilus Gas Struts: Quality and Efficiency for Canopies

At Run Auto Parts, we proudly offer Stabilus gas struts as the preferred choice for your canopy's lifting and support needs. Stabilus, a German company known for its exceptional engineering, is an OE supplier for various canopy makes, including:

  • EGR
  • Carryboy
  • ARB
  • HSP
  • FLEXIGLASS

When it comes to gas struts, Stabilus stands out with its patented designs, delivering superior performance and durability compared to cheaper aftermarket alternatives. Made in both Europe and Australia, Stabilus supports the local economy while meeting international manufacturing standards for quality and sustainability. They are also the original strut supplier for many European car manufacturers.

When selecting the correct gas strut for your canopy, it is important to consider the number stamped on your original strut. This will help determine the appropriate replacement strut for your canopy. Please note that the canopy strut is not linked to your exact vehicle make and model, but rather to the canopy itself. To ensure the correct strut, you should also measure the approximate length and match the number stamped on the strut.

Replacing a gas strut in your canopy can be a simple task if you follow the correct steps. Safety should always be a priority, so it is advisable to have someone assist you in holding the canopy while you work on the struts.

How to Replace a Gas Strut in Your Canopy

  1. Assess the Situation: Open the canopy and locate the gas struts. They should be on either side, attached with bolts or clips.
  2. Support the Canopy: Ensure the canopy is securely supported. Use a suitable tool, such as a prop rod or a helper, to hold it in place.
  3. Remove the Old Gas Strut: Start with one strut at a time. Use a suitable tool to remove the clips or bolts securing the strut. Carefully detach the strut and set it aside.
  4. Attach the New Gas Strut: Hold the new strut in place, ensuring the piston rod is facing the correct direction. Attach the bottom of the strut first, followed by the top, using the provided clips or bolts.
  5. Check the Installation: Once you have installed the new strut, test the operation of the canopy. It should open and close smoothly without any jerking or sudden movements.
  6. Repeat for the Other Side: If your canopy has two gas struts, repeat the above steps for the other side.

Please note that the specific process may vary depending on your canopy make and model, as well as the type of gas strut being used. Always refer to the manufacturer's instructions or consult a professional if you are unsure.
