"You've been Quattroed"
Over a hundred years ago, a German car pioneer called August Horch started a new auto company called Audi. “Horch” means “to listen” in August’s native German. Translated into Latin, it becomes “Audi.”
Audi initially introduced their cars to Europeans through rally driving victories and then as the first left-hand-drive car in Germany in 1921. Economic pressures through the great Depression of the 30s led to Audi merging with 3 other auto companies in a bid to survive. The new company allotted one market segment to each of their brands and designed a new four ceiling ring logo, to represent the four initial companies. Deluxe mid-sized cars was the Audi market segment, and that initial four ring symbol is still the basis of the brand logo today. And so started the history of a great brand. Since its inception the company has taken many forms and at one stage at the end of the Second World War, it’s operations were even confiscated and closed by occupying Soviet forces. But great brands survive!
Audi today is one of the top 10 car brands of the world. It’s technology is world renown, and it’s quattro all-wheel drive system has millions of fans.
